Ndimande Brothers Handed Over To South African Authorities Over AKA Murder | WATCH

The two brothers accused in the high-profile murder case of South African rapper AKA, Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande, have been handed over to South African authorities. A high-risk police team was dispatched to eSwatini to receive the suspects at King Mswati III International Airport.

AKA, whose real name is Kiernan Forbes, and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane were fatally shot outside a Durban restaurant in 2023. The Ndimande brothers were located in eSwatini and were among the first of seven suspects arrested in February last year.

National Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that the brothers are expected to appear in a Durban court on Tuesday.

Ndimande Brothers Linked to Multiple Violent Crimes

“They will then escort the two brothers to SA, only upon their arrival will our Interpol officers hand them over to the lead investigator in this case – who will then execute the J50 warrant of arrest and place them under arrest officially in SA,” Mathe explained.

Authorities have indicated that one of the brothers is believed to have fired the shots that killed AKA. In addition to the rapper’s murder, the brothers are linked to three other violent crimes.

Legal Proceedings Expected to Take Months

Legal analyst Melusi Xulu highlighted that the road to trial will be lengthy. “When they come back to South Africa they will be joined in the case where the other co-accused are in.

“In terms of Section 157 of Criminal Procedure Act and then they’ll obviously decide whether they’ll apply for bail or abandon bail, and then once they have done that they must also get an attorney in South Africa that will represent them,” Xulu said.

He added, “Once they have decided on the bail then the matter will be postponed to deal with the pre-trial so that they can see that they are ready for the trial, then next year which will be, I believe in June, July, August, October and November that is when the trial will be done.”
