NCC’s Fadiel Adams Files Criminal Complaint Against Police Chief Masemola Over Nepotism Claims

National Coloured Congress (NCC) Member of Parliament Fadiel Adams has lodged a criminal complaint against National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola, accusing him of nepotism within the South African Police Service (SAPS).

Adams alleges that Masemola appointed several of his family members and close associates to senior positions in the police force. The MP insists he has sufficient evidence to substantiate his claims.

Earlier this week, Adams also filed a separate criminal complaint of perjury against KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi at the Cape Town Central Police Station.

Adams Alleges Family Favouritism in SAPS

According to Adams, Masemola allegedly employed at least six relatives and friends within the SAPS, some of whom, he claims, lack relevant experience or face criminal allegations.

He dismissed suggestions that the issue could simply be treated as an internal matter for the Public Service Commission, saying it demanded a deeper probe.

“It cannot be an HR matter if it keeps on happening. That tells me that HR is compromised, that HR is captured and controlled.

“How do you get six of your family members and an alleged girlfriend into high positions, some of them with no experience, one of them with criminal allegations hanging over her head?” Adams said.

Perjury Complaint Against KZN Police Commissioner

The NCC MP also laid a perjury charge against KwaZulu-Natal Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who has accused Adams of mishandling classified information.

Adams believes Mkhwanazi’s July press briefing was a deliberate attempt to “save his friends”, including Crime Intelligence boss General Dumisani Khumalo.

Both cases are currently under investigation.
