Someone stop her, she’s causing more damage! It seems like Natasha Thahane has chewed more than she can swallow and now saving herself isn’t even possible. The actress out of desperation and most probably pressure has gone on contradicting what she had initially said in her interview with MacG. And now people have labelled her as a privileged liar.
On Tuesday, the actress posted a video explaining what had transpired between her, Baleka Mbete and the department of Arts and Culture. She admits that she may have exaggerated the extent of her relationship with Mbete. Thahane has now changed her statement of calling Mbete claiming she approached the former parliament speaker while she was in a meeting about funding options because she had been accepted to the New York Film Academy.
“She then advised me to explore the Department of Sports and Arts and Culture because they have got funding opportunities. That was my first conversation and last conversation with her.
“She did not make any calls on my behalf and did not send any emails on my behalf and I apologise for diluting the entire scenario because I made it seem like I had a personal relationship with her,” Natasha said.
She then goes on to say that she only received R350 000 from the government and the rest of the money was in a form of a loan from Desmond Tutu’s sister.

This video comes after both Baleka and Natasha were called out by South Africans as the actress admitted that Baleka Mbete used her influence to get her funding towards her tuition fees, which altogether came to more than R1 million.
Her new explanation sparked outrage on social media with a lot of SAns saying that they were being taken for a ride.
Natasha in a situation like this the best thing to do is to remain silent and lay low. Now you just scored another own goal.🤦🏾♀️ pic.twitter.com/ZKnIN5lR4d

Okay you applied and got the funding but the amount is capped to 250k how did you get 1 million rands bestie? Why were you the exception??

In the interview she says Mam Baleka spoke to the department. Now she says Mam Baleka told her to contact the department as if she merely advised her. 🥴

Just fire your manager and move on, we’ve moved on.m instead of making things worse. It sounds like Baleka Mbethe said you must say all this

I did not wanna comment on this matter, but your facial expressions and nonverbal cues are speaking different tone from what you saying. This sounds like compulsion for collateral damage. 🤷🏾♂️

This just made things worse 🗑. First of all, you explicitly mentioned in your interview that it was a phone call – now you ran into her? Secondly, bursary funding is limited to R250k. How did you get R100k additional funding? Lastly, in what ways did you contribute to the arts? pic.twitter.com/uLrdn1lc28

There’s no level of English accent that’s gonna erase what we heard from that MacG’s podcast. Your acting skills are getting there btw, congratulations 😘 pic.twitter.com/hNKKp3DNjP

These are pure lies she should have just remained silence. When she was busy receiving millions without a due process for studying Art overseas in 2017 students were arrested, teargased by police for fighting to have access in universities via what was know as fees must fall.

Meanwhile, the EFFSC has called on the department to come clean on the process which was followed and investigate any irregularities which may have arisen.
