Former ‘Generations’ Star Nambitha Mpumlwana Allegedly Arrested For Theft At Dischem

Former Generations actress Nambitha Mpumlwana has allegedly found herself in legal trouble after being accused of stealing lipstick from Dischem Pharmacy at Ferndale Mall.

The shocking allegations have left many of her supporters in disbelief, with some questioning whether this was truly a case of theft or simply a misunderstanding.

According to reports, the veteran actress was taken into custody but later released on R1,000 bail. She appeared in court on 20 March, and her case has been postponed to 2 May, where she will have to plead guilty or not guilty.

Dischem Theft Allegations—What Happened?

A policeman, who spoke anonymously to Sunday World, revealed that the incident allegedly occurred when Nambitha walked out of the store with a lipstick worth R160. When confronted, she insisted that it was a misunderstanding.

However, Dischem’s management reportedly refused to let the matter go, calling the authorities, which led to her arrest. The incident has since sparked heated debates on social media, with some people questioning the necessity of an arrest over such a small amount, while others are waiting to hear her side of the story.

Not the First Generations Actress Accused of Theft

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a former Generations actress has been accused of theft.

In 2013, actress Maggie Benedict, known for playing Akhona Griffiths on Generations, was arrested for allegedly stealing Panado worth R17.90. The case dragged on for two years, but in 2015, she was acquitted of the charges.

Despite the controversy, Maggie went on to have an international acting career, featuring in shows like The Good Doctor and Random Acts of Flyness.

Following the news of Nambitha Mpumlwana’s arrest, social media erupted with mixed reactions.
