Nafiz Modack Accuses Cops of Protecting Crime Bosses In Explosive Testimony

Alleged underworld kingpin Nafiz Modack has made shocking claims in the Western Cape High Court, accusing top law enforcement officials of colluding with crime bosses to facilitate drug deals at Cape Town nightclubs.

Modack, who is facing over 100 criminal charges in a massive underworld trial, took the stand for the first time, making startling allegations against former cop Major-General Jeremy Vearey, as well as alleged crime bosses Mark Lifman and Jerome “Donkie” Booysen.

Modack’s Allegations Against Law Enforcement

Modack claimed that his conflict with Lifman and Booysen began nearly a decade ago over a property auction dispute.

He alleged that during a heated confrontation over auctioned properties, Lifman pulled a gun on him. He also claimed that after taking over nightclub security contracts from Lifman and his associate, Andre Naude, he discovered they were allowing drug sales in clubs.

According to Modack, Vearey later approached him and told him he had to hand over control of club security, warning him, “You are either with us or against us.” Modack refused, insisting that he wanted to keep the clubs drug-free.

Claims of Fabricated Charges and Murder Plot

Modack further accused police of fabricating criminal cases against him in collusion with Lifman. He said he was wrongfully arrested for extortion and later acquitted, with a magistrate ruling that witnesses had been pressured by police to testify against him.

While in Pollsmoor Prison, he was allegedly warned of a hit on his life and later moved to another section. His associate, Colin Booysen, later informed him that Lifman and Donkie had planned to have him killed in prison.

Modack is currently on trial for the 2020 murder of Anti-Gang Unit detective Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear, who was gunned down outside his Bishop Lavis home. The trial before Judge Robert Henney continues as Modack’s legal team presents his defence.
