N1 North Closed Amid Misty, Rainy Conditions

Limpopo Traffic and Road Safety confirmed that the northbound lane towards Beitbridge remains closed due to the crash. Severe congestion has also affected southbound traffic as authorities work to clear the scene.

Drivers have been warned to switch on headlights, reduce speed, and exercise extreme caution amid ongoing mist and rain in the area.

Motorists Advised to Postpone Trips

“If you’re planning to travel between Louis Trichardt and Musina, it’s best to delay your trip if possible – there’s a severe traffic backlog in both northbound and southbound directions,” the department said.

Officials have provided alternative routes for affected motorists:

  • From Musina: Turn right onto the R523 towards Siloam, then right to rejoin the N1 at Witvlag.
  • From Makhado: Turn right at Witvlag, continue to the R523 junction, turn left, and continue towards N1 Willispoort.

Traffic authorities have stated that updates will be issued as more information becomes available. Motorists are urged to remain patient, drive safely, and follow official detours while the road remains closed.
