Mzansi Magic’s Inimba Scoops Two Major Awards At The AMVCA In Nigeria, SA Cannot Stop Celebrating

Two seasons in and absolutely unstoppable. Mzansi Magic’s beloved telenovela Inimba has just announced itself to the rest of the continent in the most emphatic way possible, walking away from one of Africa’s most prestigious entertainment nights with not one but two major trophies.

South Africa, your favourite telenovela is officially an international award winner and we are beaming with pride.

Inimba Wins Best Indigenous M-Net Original And Best Scripted Series At The AMVCA

The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, held in Nigeria, is no small occasion. It is one of the continent’s biggest nights for film, television, entertainment, and fashion — with a red carpet that has become just as fiercely competitive as the awards themselves.

Inimba arrived with three nominations: Best Indigenous M-Net Original, Best Art Direction, and Best Scripted Series. It left with two of those three trophies firmly in hand, claiming both Best Indigenous M-Net Original and Best Scripted Series in what was a genuinely historic night for South African television.

Siphosethu Tshapu from the Inimba team released a statement that was as moving as any scene the show has ever produced, describing the wins as a powerful reminder that African stories told authentically and fearlessly continue to resonate far beyond their borders.

The message to viewers was particularly touching — acknowledging everyone who has watched, supported, voted, cried, and debated their way through the journey since the very beginning, and reminding them that these awards belong to the audience just as much as they belong to the team.

MultiChoice and Canal+ also received a heartfelt thank you for believing in the vision and investing in bold African storytelling. And then came the line that sent chills down every Inimba fan’s spine: this is only the beginning.

From SAFTA Dominance To AMVCA Glory

What makes this international triumph even sweeter is the context surrounding it. Just two months ago, Inimba swept the South African Film and TV Awards with three significant wins — Best Writing: Telenovela, Best Soap/Telenovela, and Best Supporting Actress in a Telenovela for the phenomenally talented Zenande Mfenyane.

To follow that domestic dominance with two continental awards is the kind of momentum that signals something truly special is happening with this production.

For a telenovela only two seasons deep to be collecting trophies at this rate, across both local and international stages, is a remarkable achievement that speaks to the quality of the writing, the performances, and the vision behind the show.

Inimba is not just keeping South African viewers glued to their screens every weekday — it is making the entire continent sit up and take notice. And if the team’s own words are anything to go by, the best chapters are still to come. Watch this space.
