South African singer Cici is catching serious heat after a performance gone all the way left in KwaZulu-Natal this week. Sis thought she was serving a moment — instead, she’s serving controversy.

The Runaway hitmaker found herself at the centre of a social media storm after a video of her dancing suggestively with a young male fan during her performance at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) went viral. What was meant to be a flirty stage moment quickly turned into a full-blown scandal, with Mzansi accusing the singer of crossing serious boundaries.

The performance that went left

Cici, dressed in a daring cut-out dress and thigh-high boots, was performing in front of a largely student audience when she called a young fan on stage. She told the crowd that the song was meant for her partner — but since he wasn’t there, she’d “make do” with a random fan.

She took the boy by the hand — yes, in front of what looked like a crowd of students — and started performing around him in a way that was… let’s just say not very PG. The poor kid looked shy, stiff, and visibly unsure, while the singer leaned in, dancing suggestively and wearing his hat at one point.

South Africans have also pointed out that if the roles were reversed — if a male artist had pulled a female student on stage for a suggestive dance — there would be outrage, statements, and possibly legal action.

As of now, Cici has not issued a statement or apology regarding the viral clip. Her social media pages remain active but quiet, with her most recent posts flooded by comments calling her out.

Some fans even demanded that UKZN release a statement condemning the incident, arguing that the performance was inappropriate for a campus crowd.
