Murder Probe Launched After Man Found Dead In Turflaagte

Police in the Free State have launched a murder investigation following the grim discovery of a man’s body in Turflaagte over the weekend.

Officers responded to a distress call around 10:45pm on Saturday, April 12, after a report was received of a person lying motionless in an open area.

Upon arrival, authorities found the lifeless body of an unknown male in a pool of blood.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli confirmed that the man, believed to be between 35 and 40 years old, was wearing a black T-shirt, black trousers, and black shoes with white soles.

The body was found lying on its back, and emergency medical services declared the victim dead on arrival.

Victim Suffered Fatal Stab Wound

Preliminary investigations revealed the murder victim had sustained a single stab wound to the front of the neck.

No identification documents were found on the murder  victim and his identity remains unknown at this time.

The motive for the brutal murder is also still unclear, and no arrests have been made.

“At this stage, the identity of the deceased is unknown, the motive for the killing remains undetermined and no one has been arrested yet,” said Sergeant Kareli.

Free State Police Appeal For Public Help

Authorities are now calling on members of the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the deceased or lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.

Community members with knowledge of the incident or the victim’s identity are encouraged to contact local police.

“Anyone who may have information regarding this incident, or who may be able to assist in identifying the deceased, is urged to come forward,” Kareli urged.
