Msaki And Jesse Clegg Unite For Soul-Stirring EP ‘Entropy’

After years of friendship and mutual admiration, South African singer-songwriters Msaki and Jesse Clegg have teamed up for a captivating new musical project — their joint EP, Entropy, released in September 2025.
The collaboration marks a significant moment for both artists, blending their distinctive sounds into something entirely fresh and unexpected. The result? A deeply emotional body of work that explores loss, healing, and rediscovering joy through music.
“We Never Planned It — It Just Happened,” Says Jesse Clegg
Reflecting on the project’s origins, Jesse Clegg revealed that Entropy wasn’t a calculated collaboration but rather a natural evolution of their shared creative energy.
“I think it was a combination of just being good friends and having deeply held beliefs and interests that really aligned, and also we were just in the studio a lot. We both live in music, and we create all the time,” says Clegg.
“We never really had a strong intention to create an album together, but we both were fans of each other and we just started writing songs. So, there was never like a point where we were like, right, we’re going to make this a real project.
“It really just flowed from the songs that started emerging, and I think when we both realised that these songs don’t sound like me or Msaki, it sounds like something else – like some third new artist that emerged, and that was very exciting.”
Msaki: “Music Was Our Way of Surviving”
Echoing the sentiment, Msaki opened up about how the music became a lifeline during a time of personal crisis for both artists.
“When we started writing songs, it was like a moment of survival. A state of emergency doesn’t last forever, and we were both in crisis mode when we met. Jesse was there for me, and I was there for Jesse, and the music emerged from a place that you don’t think you’re going to go back to real life,” she shared.
“Now we’re back in real life – you’re healed, to a certain extent, we’re always healing. Let’s do the thing that makes us happy, let’s make sure that we release this music.”
