In their quest for justice, Mpura’s family has joined forces with fellow artists Tee Jay and ThackzinDJ, enlisting legal expertise to recover the owed funds.

They allege that certain entities are profiting from the artist’s enduring legacy while neglecting to distribute the rightful earnings to his heirs. This situation reveals a broader issue within the South African music industry concerning transparency and equitable royalty distribution.​

Notably, in January 2022, Amapiano artist Sir Trill publicly committed to allocating all royalties from his collaborations with Mpura to the late artist’s family.

He announced, “Every song on my project with @MPURAPUDI all royalties go to his team and family.”
