Mpume ‘Six’ Nyamane Stars In New Mzansi Wethu Telenovela Homecoming

Mpume “Six” Nyamane has joined award-winning production house Tshedza Pictures, which brings a fresh and emotionally resonant telenovela to Mzansi Wethu this month. Homecoming, set to premiere on Monday, July 28, at 6:30 pm, promises to captivate viewers with its compelling storyline and breathtaking KwaZulu-Natal setting.

The series follows Zethu Hlongwane, portrayed by rising star Mpume “Six” Nyamane, a brilliant medical school graduate whose dreams of becoming one of South Africa’s few black female surgeons are put on hold when she’s left jobless and without a placement.

With no options left, she returns to her rural hometown of Bergville, confronting the life — and traditions — she once left behind.

This telenovela takes over the time slot of fan-favourite Sibongile & The Dlaminis, which concludes on Wednesday, July 23. New episodes of Homecoming will air every Monday to Wednesday on Mzansi Wethu.

Mpume’s Character Shows When Western Medicine Meets African Tradition

As Zethu navigates the personal and professional fallout of her return, she finds herself at a crossroads between modern science and the age-old traditions of her community. Her path intersects with Sifiso Kubheka, played by acclaimed actor Thembinkosi Mthembu (Shaka iLembe, The River), a police officer by day and traditional healer by night.

Their meeting sparks a layered journey of healing, belief, and identity — and an unexpected romance that challenges everything Zethu thought she knew.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Shirley Adonisi, director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net, emphasized the show’s emotional and cultural resonance:
