Mother Raped With Her Two Daughters Seek Answers From Police

A mother and her two daughters were raped while walking home from a local community gardening project in Durban Deep, west of Johannesburg, last month.

The alleged attacker reportedly threatened the family with a gun before assaulting the 18 and 15-year-old daughters and their mother.

The family reported the incident at Roodepoort Police Station but say they have yet to receive any follow-up or communication regarding the investigation.

Advocacy Group Highlights Police Inaction in the Mother and Daughters case

Miranda Jordan, founder of Women and Men Against Child Abuse, was called to assist the family and expressed concern over delays in the police response.

“This is a whole family, all the females in one family. And they were promised that they were going to have counselling… In fact, even the little brother could draw a drawing. They could describe this man.

“They could describe everything about that. They would the next day have an identikit drawn by the police officer, and they would get counselling,” Jordan said.

Attempts to obtain comment from the police have been unsuccessful. The family continues to demand urgent answers as they seek justice and support after the traumatic ordeal.
