Mother Arrested After Daughter’s Body Found Buried Under Concrete Slab In Rustenburg Yard

A 43-year-old woman has been arrested after human remains believed to be those of her 20-year-old daughter were found buried beneath a concrete slab in her yard in Seraleng, near Rustenburg.
North West police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh said the woman was arrested on Thursday by Boitekong police and will appear before the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.
Missing Daughter’s Remains Discovered
“It is alleged that a concerned family member became suspicious after not seeing the accused’s daughter for several months. When questioned, the mother claimed her daughter was visiting her father’s relatives in Limpopo. However, when the father was contacted, he denied the claim,” said Myburgh.
A police search of the property led to the discovery of a suspiciously covered area in the yard, concealed beneath a concrete slab. Upon excavation, human remains were found and have since been sent for forensic testing to confirm the identity.
