Mother Of Seven Arrested In Waterberg For Concealment Of Birth After Stillborn Incident

A 43-year-old woman from Lesodimotlana village, Waterberg District, is set to appear before Mahwelereng Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 10 September 2025, facing charges of concealment of birth.
She was arrested on Sunday, 7 September 2025, following reports from concerned community members in the Tinmyne policing area.
Community Discovers Concealment of Stillborn Baby
According to police reports, the suspect, a mother of seven, including a 17-month-old, had been pregnant.
A member of the local community noticed that the woman’s pregnancy was no longer visible and immediately alerted authorities. Upon investigation, the suspect admitted she had been pregnant for approximately five months.

The suspect disclosed that she gave birth to a stillborn baby on 22 August 2025. “She wrapped the fetus with a towel and buried it behind her house,” police confirmed.
