Mogotsi Accused Cele And Masemola Of Receiving Millions Linked To SAPS Tender

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has heard fresh allegations claiming former Police Minister Bheki Cele and national police commissioner Fannie Masemola received substantial payments from tender businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.

These claims were made by controversial North West businessman and alleged Crime Intelligence agent Brown Mogotsi, who wrapped up a session of his testimony in Pretoria on Tuesday.

The controversial businessman delivered a series of explosive counterclaims, insisting that Matlala had paid millions to both senior police officials as gratification linked to a R360 million SAPS tender.

According to Mogotsi, Matlala shared the information with him telephonically while he was behind bars. He alleged that the businessman complained about the police officials being “ungrateful” despite receiving money from him.

Mogotsi told the commission, “Saying that ‘these people expect me, like Masemola expects R25 million from me, and I’ve already given him R5 million’. He also spoke about Bheki Cele, that he has given him R2 million and he wanted R10 million, which means the R8 million was outstanding.'”
