MKP ‘Receives R2m Offer’ To Sit With Zuma

The MK Party has revealed that a seat at former President Jacob Zuma’s table for their upcoming gala dinner has been sold for an impressive R2 million.

MK Party Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu made the announcement on Wednesday, highlighting the high demand for the exclusive event that follows the party’s first anniversary rally.

MKP’s Year of Growth

The gala dinner, set to take place after the rally at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday, celebrates the MK Party’s remarkable achievements since its founding by Zuma in December 2023.

Within a year, the party secured its position as the third-largest in the country and became the official opposition in Parliament. Its strongest support base remains in KwaZulu-Natal, where it gained the majority vote in the province during the May general elections.

Shivambu outlined strict plans to ensure the event remains a provincial affair, with attendees exclusively from KwaZulu-Natal. “We have secured transportation for all 11 regions in KwaZulu-Natal and 44 municipalities,” he explained, adding that trains from kwaMashu, Cato Ridge, and uMlazi would be provided free of charge.

However, no transport will be arranged for members from other provinces. “Those who voluntarily, at their cost, want to come are allowed,” Shivambu added.

Progressive Caucus Invited

The party has extended invitations to its allies within the parliamentary progressive caucus, including the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), African Transformation Movement (ATM), and African Unity Congress (AUC), offering them the opportunity to deliver messages of support at the event.

Shivambu emphasised the event’s significance, stating, “This anniversary rally and gala dinner mark the first step in our journey toward sustained growth and unity.”

The MK Party’s rise and its plans for celebration reflect its growing influence in South Africa’s political landscape.
