Mkhwanazi Set To Testify Before Parliament Over Explosive Corruption Allegations

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry is set to resume its public hearings in Pretoria on Monday. The hearings were temporarily paused last week after Crime Intelligence Head, Dumisani Khumalo, fell ill shortly after providing his testimony.

The commission, which has been probing serious issues within law enforcement and the justice system, is expected to continue hearing testimonies from key figures once proceedings resume.

Mkhwanazi has alleged deep-rooted corruption, political interference, and criminal infiltration within the justice system — issues that have raised significant concern within government and law enforcement circles.

Parliament Appoints Advocate Norman Arendse As Evidence Leader

Parliament has appointed Advocate Norman Arendse as the evidence leader for the inquiry. Arendse confirmed that Mkhwanazi will be the first senior police official to give evidence before the committee.

“The statement is not the same as before the Madlanga Commission; it is a reference annexure to his statement, so to that extent incorporated. We have tried to avoid competition. There are a number of material differences, new matter, not evidence yet, that is referred to in the statements,” said Arendse.
