As with any high-profile event, the homecoming celebration received mixed reactions from netizens. While many fans showered Makhadzi with love and congratulations, others were quick to throw shade.

One user, thobekile_mdlalose, showed love by saying, “We love you!” Another, kgopelo, praised her: “Congrats, Makhadzi, well deserved. You are a true ambassador of the people of Limpopo and South Africa as a whole.”

On the flip side, some netizens couldn’t help but bring up past controversies. Bonganebongs15 commented, “They’d rather celebrate her with alcohol than help her out.” Kenny_monei sarcastically asked, “Did she pay the mashonisa?” and sbengos labeled the event as “fruitless expenditure.”

Despite the mixed reactions, there’s no denying that Makhadzi’s achievements are monumental. Winning against stars like Tyler ICU in the Viewers’ Choice: Best International Act category is no small feat. Makhadzi continues to inspire many, and her homecoming celebration, complete with a dance with the Premier, will undoubtedly be a moment to remember.
