Mitchells Plain Woman Allegedly Stabbed To Death By Brother During Family Argument

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her brother following an argument at their home in Portland, Mitchells Plain, on Sunday morning. Police have opened a murder case as investigations into the fatal incident continue.

The tragedy unfolded in Nile Way, where the siblings lived with their uncle. The woman died at the scene after allegedly being stabbed during the confrontation.

Mitchells Plain Stabbing Allegedly Followed Heated Family Dispute

According to the family, the brother and sister had been arguing before the situation turned violent. Their uncle, who asked not to be identified, claimed both siblings had struggled with drug use.

He said the argument escalated after the woman repeatedly provoked her brother.

“Chandre and her brother have the same mother, but they have different fathers.

“The two siblings were arguing, but she kept ‘peppering him’ and he got angry and mentioned something bad about her dad.

“She tried to stab him, but he took the knife from her and he stabbed her twice in the side.

“She managed to walk to the driveway, where she collapsed and passed away at the scene.”

The uncle said he was inside the house when he heard the argument but believed other family members present would calm the situation before it became violent.

“I was about to sleep in the back room when I heard them arguing. But I thought my younger brother and a friend were there, so they would step in and handle it. I did not think it would escalate to this.”

Family Left Devastated After Fatal Mitchells Plain Stabbing

The uncle described the incident as heartbreaking, saying the family had effectively lost both siblings.

He said he spoke to his nephew while he was inside the police van after the arrest.

“When he was at the back of the police van, I went to speak to him and he was crying so much. He said to me, ‘Yoh, uncle, I can’t believe it. I did not mean to do it’.

“My emotions are all over the place because both of them are gone.

“Chandre is not with us anymore, and her brother is still young with his whole life ahead of him. But unfortunately, he has to pay for what he did and learn from this.

“I love them both very much.”

The brother is expected to face a murder charge in connection with the incident.

Police Investigating Mitchells Plain Murder Case

Police have confirmed that a murder case has been registered following the fatal stabbing.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said the incident occurred at about 6.30am on Sunday in Nile Way, Portland.

“Mitchell’s Plain police registered a murder case for investigation following a stabbing incident on Sunday morning, 5 July 2026, at about 6.30am, in Nile Way, Portland, in which a 30-year-old female was fatally injured.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

“Due to the sensitive nature of the incident, this office will not divulge any further details regarding the incident.”

Police investigations remain ongoing.
