Missing Teen, 17, Found In Ndwedwe, KZN After Nearly A Week

A 17-year-old girl who had been missing since Friday, 8 August 2025, was located this afternoon (Thursday) in Ndwedwe, KwaZulu-Natal.
The teenager’s 55-year-old grandmother, visibly emotional, approached Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Headquarters at around 17:37 to request urgent assistance.
She explained that she had taken custody of her granddaughter after the girl’s mother disowned her due to ongoing behavioural challenges.
Grandmother’s Desperate Search for Her Missing Granddaughter
Since the disappearance, the grandmother had searched tirelessly for the teenager. Acting on a tip-off, she received information that her granddaughter was staying with friends in Msunduze, Ndwedwe.
However, she was hesitant to approach the residence alone, recalling a previous incident where she had been ridiculed by the girl’s friends.
Reaction Officers escorted the grandmother and her friend to the location. On arrival, they discovered that the teenager was no longer there.
