Missing Dwayne Nash: Family Pleads For Answers After Vehicle Found Stripped

More than a month after Dwayne Nash (45) disappeared, his family remains desperate for answers as the investigation into his whereabouts continues.

Nash was last seen on February 4 when he left the bed and breakfast unit he had been renting. Before departing, he informed domestic staff that he would be away for about a week and that cleaning services would not be necessary during that time.

He never came back.

Dwayne Nash’s Stripped Car Found

The case took a troubling turn on Thursday, February 26, when Nash’s vehicle was discovered abandoned in a plantation located between White River and Hazyview.

The white Daihatsu Rocky had been heavily stripped by the time it was found.

When the media visited the location, the vehicle appeared as little more than a shell hidden in thick undergrowth. Its engine, gearbox, propshaft, two front tyres and exterior trim had all been removed.

A fallen tree lay across the roof of the vehicle, while an empty golf bag was seen nearby.

Police spokesperson Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe confirmed that the vehicle had been recovered and taken for examination.

She said the car was towed to the White River SAPS premises on Tuesday, March 3, where investigators will continue with further enquiries.

Landlord Says Nash Planned to Leave for New Job

According to Nash’s landlord, who requested anonymity, the missing man had already indicated that he would soon be leaving the property.

He submitted notice on February 1, explaining that he had secured new employment and intended to relocate.

“He said he would be in touch before leaving to confirm final arrangements,” the landlord said.

The landlord added that Nash did not disclose where he planned to move or what job opportunity he had accepted.

Family Grew Concerned After Messages Went Unanswered

Concern among relatives began to grow after February 7 when Nash failed to respond to messages sent to him on WhatsApp.

His nephew, Heinrich Britz, explained that the silence was unusual.

“We thought he would eventually reply, but silence stretched longer than usual,” he said.

The family’s worries intensified when a man from Tzaneen contacted them. The man had sold Nash the Daihatsu Rocky in December and said police had reached out to him after the vehicle was found.

At the time the car was discovered, ownership of the vehicle had not yet been officially transferred to Nash.

Following the developments, Nash’s family opened a missing persons case at the Modimolle (Nylstroom) Police Station as the search for him continues.
