Missing 62-Year-Old  Farmer Found Murdered After Community’s Violent Protest

A 62-year-old farmer, David Netshilaphala, who was reported missing on 1 March 2025, was found dead in the Xikundu Village area.

The farmer, who had gone to check on his cattle on 27 February 2025, discovered that three of his cattle were missing, prompting an investigation into his whereabouts.

Community Takes Action With Arson In Search For Suspects

The community’s frustration with the missing person led to violent protests.

Residents took matters into their own hands, burning six houses believed to be owned by suspects linked to Netshilaphala’s disappearance.

One person was arrested and charged with arson following the attacks on the properties.

Despite these actions, the search for the missing farmer continued.

Two Suspects Arrested For Murder And Stock Theft

On 10 March 2025, following a tip-off from local farmers, police arrested two suspects aged between 21 and 31.

The suspects were connected to the murder and theft of Netshilaphala’s cattle.

They led authorities to a remote crime scene where the body of the missing farmer was found and later confirmed by next of kin.

The suspects will appear in court on 18 March 2025 to face charges of murder and stock theft.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue to seek the remaining suspect.
