Missing 2-Year-Old’s Body Found After Disappearing While Playing In Yard

A two-year-old boy named Khayone Xavier Pakeni was found dead after disappearing while playing in his yard in Mbalenhle. The tragic news, reported on Monday, follows an extensive search that lasted nearly ten days.

According to Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the spokesperson for Mpumalanga provincial police, the young child’s remains were discovered in an open field in another area of Mbalenhle.

Initially reported missing on October 9, Khayone’s case quickly mobilized the local community and law enforcement in a frantic search effort. His mother and neighbours tirelessly searched for him before involving the police.

The discovery of the child’s remains was particularly horrifying, as he was found wrapped in a blanket consistent with the clothing he was wearing at the time of his disappearance.

Mdhluli confirmed that medical personnel pronounced the child dead at the scene, prompting police to open a murder investigation. Authorities are now actively pursuing leads to apprehend the individuals responsible for this tragic event.
