Mzansi Drags Miss Universe SA Melissa Nayimuli After Swimsuit Clip: “She Won’t Win!”

South Africans are not holding back about Miss Universe South Africa 2025, Melissa Nayimuli — and after her swimsuit walk hit social media, the comments have been spicier than Thai street food.
The beauty queen, currently in Thailand representing Mzansi at the Miss Universe pageant, has sparked a wave of criticism following a clip shared by content creator @Musa_Khawula on Friday, 14 November 2025. And let’s just say… South Africa is divided, confused, and very much unimpressed.
@musa_khawula posted: “A look at Melissa Nayimuli at the 2025 Miss Universe pageant in Thailand for the Swimsuit Fashion Show.”
But instead of national pride, the video triggered a digital drag session.
Mzansi Reacts: “We Don’t Recognise Her!”
The comments section turned into a full public court:
- @Waylonjunior: “Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala made a questionable choice sending her.”
- @by_greatest: “We don’t recognise her!”
- @Tebogo16_09: “A ka se winne,” (She won’t win).
- @Mama_Bridgie: “There is nothing South African about her; that no DNA thing is real.”
- @yilu_ultra: “Beautiful, yes. Miss Universe calibre? Absolutely not.”
- @_therealshokii: “Ngathi akafuni,” (It’s like she doesn’t want to be there).
- @TreyBalla: “She must enjoy the holiday. She’s not a Miss Universe prototype.”
Others questioned her heritage, the selection process, and even her styling, with some South Africans comparing her unfavourably to previous queens like Ndavi, Shudu, and Lalela.

“Is Melissa Even South African?” — The Conversation Gets Messy
Mzansi’s confusion didn’t stop there:
- @Neo08756796: “Is this the Ugandan girl representing SA?”
- @busangDitumo: “She’s wearing Bokang’s hair.”
- @TumiNkosi: “How did she make it here? Runner-up where?”
- @libongwechibi: “Surely she’s not South African.”
- @mah31935: “This globalisation agenda is nonsense. Nothing about her says SA.”
- @leah_leehh: “She’s just adding numbers. She won’t win.”
A few users tried to defend her grace and beauty — but the majority opinion? Mzansi isn’t convinced she’s bringing home a crown… or even making the final cut.
The Crown Is Looking Far Out of Reach
Melissa Nayimuli is still competing, still smiling, still serving her best pageant walk in Thailand.
But back home?
Mzansi says the standard has dropped — and the criticism is not slowing down.
Will she prove everyone wrong on the Miss Universe stage? Or is South Africa already convinced the crown is going elsewhere?
