“Birkin Before Bill?” Mihlali Ndamase Reportedly Owes SARS Over R580K In Unpaid Taxes!

It seems influencer luxury doesn’t come tax-free! Glamorous content creator and beauty mogul Mihlali Ndamase has allegedly found herself in hot water with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) — over a hefty R580,000 tax debt that’s ballooned with penalties and interest.
Glam, Glow… and Mihlali Ndamase’s Growing Tax Bill
According to reports, SARS initially demanded R490,000, but the figure reportedly spiked to over R580,000 after adding R85,000 in penalties. Despite Mihlali’s fame for high-end beauty, brand deals, and luxury taste, the taxman apparently wasn’t impressed by her “soft life aesthetic.”

The alleged letter of demand — seen by Sunday World — warned the star to pay up within 10 days or face possible asset auctions. The same month? Mihlali was flexing her two new Hermès Birkin bags worth a cool R1 million.
“According to the records of the South African Revenue Service, you have failed to pay your tax debt for one or more tax years… you are requested to make full payment within 10 days,” the letter reportedly stated.
SARS Said: Pay or Prepare for the Sheriff
The tax authority apparently threatened to take the matter further if she didn’t comply — from civil judgment to asset seizure. Mihlali was reportedly given options:
- Pay the full amount
- Apply for an instalment plan
- Request a temporary suspension if she planned to dispute it
But insiders allege she didn’t follow through with the dispute.

“Celebs chase fame, then hide behind shades when SARS comes knocking.”

From soft life to SARS strife, Mihlali’s alleged tax troubles are a stark reminder that not even the most glamorous influencers can contour their way out of the taxman’s reach.
As one netizen put it best: “You can ghost an ex, but you can’t ghost SARS.”
