Mihlali Ndamase Hit With Money Laundering Accusations After Opening Luxury Boutique

Mihlali Ndamase Hit With Money Laundering Accusations After Opening Luxury Boutique

The TL is on fire, darling — and Mihlali Ndamase is at the centre of the blaze like she personally rubbed two stones together.

Ever since Showmax exposed the “Slay Queen Economy”  through its doccuseries and the Madlanga Commission vomiting bombshells every five minutes, South Africans have developed a PhD in spotting potential money laundering.

So when Mihlali officially launched her luxury garment boutique Treasury at The Marc in Sandton on 18 November 2025, congratulations were quickly drowned out by side-eyes, suspicion, and allegations flying with the big question being “Who sponsored this?”

Because let’s be honest — opening a store in Sandton when you allegedly owe SARS? The maths is not mathsing, babes.

Mihlali posted her announcement like a proud new business owner:  “Treasury By Mihlali Ndamase. From my lips to God’s ears. Doors are officially OPEN.”

Her boutique features soft-luxury décor, minimalist elegance and rails of gowns paired with matching accessories.

She also emphasised that the brand is woman-owned and caters to women of all shapes, ages, and races. But the TL wasn’t exactly buying it… literally or figuratively.

The Internet Pulls Receipts On Mihlali Ndamase

The boutique is indeed stunning, the gowns are beautiful, and the décor screams minimalist elegance… but none of that mattered once the internet clocked the location. Rent at The Marc? Not influencer-friendly. Not even doctor salary friendly.

At first, the love poured in.

@saltiesunmasked wrote: “Congratulations to Mihlali she opened a very nice boutique at the Marc in Sandton the store name is called Treasury by Mihlali Ndamase, the dresses look Amazing😍😍😍Now cut that parasite Bobby off😒🥴”

But SA social media users move faster than the Hawks when they smell a scandal. Within hours, the timelines were knee-deep in accusations, shock, shade and unfiltered commentary about how Mihlali could suddenly afford to open a boutique in one of the priciest malls in the country — especially given her public SARS saga.

Here’s exactly what the streets said (comments untouched, as requested):

@abulelaf: “Hmmm I hope her influencer and celeb friends support her because rent is expensive there and an average person does not have 10k to spend on a dress, her her fans are young adult in university and some are unemployed. I am just shocked because she has always mentioned she would like to start a beauty business make up or skincare so this seems rather out of her niche. I would buy a make up or skincare but never a 10k dress especially when the same can be found on AliExpress”

@burnerburnerarc5: “She probably struck a deal with someone’s husband to help him clean his money while he pays for her SARS debt”

@mmopa_n: “🐞 ofcourse. We all know she can’t run a business”

@tebogimomos: “Time will tell…!!! All I know is that there’s always a Story with SA Influencers so called Success. And what we normally see is not always the truth😢🫣.”

@thabithesavage1: “Rumours are she’s back with Mr S”

@phumi_the_pixen: “edwizzy is apparently behind it”

@sellojupiter: “Ingathi you have point there…mean you owe sars but somehow she managed to open Boutique in Sandton?this girls will do anything for money 💰”

@nashechocs: “Baddies being washing machines is the propaganda I never saw coming 😮‍💨🥺. They’ll literally do anything for coins 🪙 huh 🤔. Tjoooo 🚶🏽🚶🏽🚶🏽🚶🏽🚶🏽”

@jones666666: “Obvious, she knows nothing about running a business”

@l_phomolo: “Someone please call SARS. This sounds more like a money laundering scheme”

@dembe_cut: “Yes it’s a nice boutique, but she’s bad for the image of the boutique. She should’ve been remained unknown. But anyway it’s washing machine store.”

@melelo_x: “During #MadlangaCommision such a bold move”

@chosennwani: “Money laundering store lol, it is going to be like most Boutique stores in Sandton and Luxury salons in Midrand. You only see 1 or 2 people walk in a month but for some reason it is miraculously always open, rent and utilities paid, yet no sales recorded lol…kodwa ke congrats”

The TL Has Spoken — and It Smells Like Fabric Softener

While some fans are rooting for Mihlali’s new chapter, others believe there’s an entire Netflix documentary’s worth of questions behind this boutique launch. And with the current climate? The public isn’t extending grace to any influencer who suddenly levels up without showing their working.

Whether Treasury becomes a thriving brand or Sandton’s newest tumble-dry cycle?
Only time, bank statements, and SARS will tell.
