Microsoft Launches 365 Premium Plan With More AI Benefits Than ChatGPT Plus

Microsoft has added yet another subscription to its growing lineup, unveiling Microsoft 365 Premium at $20 per month. The plan combines the familiar Office productivity suite with expanded AI access powered by OpenAI’s latest models, plus extended usage limits.

The company frames this new option as more valuable than OpenAI’s ChatGPT Plus, which costs the same but doesn’t include Office apps or the 1TB of OneDrive storage that comes standard with Microsoft 365 subscriptions.

Copilot Pro Retired, Premium Takes Its Place

Until now, users who wanted higher AI usage limits had to pay an extra $20 per month for the Copilot Pro add-on.

Microsoft confirmed that Copilot Pro is no longer available for purchase, although existing subscribers can continue using it. Importantly, Microsoft won’t automatically migrate those users to the new Premium plan.

“Microsoft 365 Premium will get you access to GPT-5 and 4o, as well as AI agents including ‘Actions, Researcher and Analyst,’” a company representative explained. That places it directly against OpenAI’s offering, though Microsoft’s plan differs by focusing on productivity integration.

Subscribers to Microsoft 365 Premium will have early access to new AI features as they roll out. However, unlike ChatGPT Plus, the package won’t provide access to custom GPTs or Sora video generation.

The pricing of Microsoft’s other plans remains unchanged for now — $10 per month for Microsoft 365 Personal and $13 per month for Microsoft 365 Family.

Still, this announcement comes alongside Microsoft’s move to raise its Game Pass Ultimate subscription to $30 per month, sparking frustration among gamers.
