15 Naked Men Found In Sandringham As Police Bust Alleged Human Trafficking Ring

In a chilling discovery, police uncovered an alleged human trafficking ring in Sandringham, Johannesburg, on Thursday evening, rescuing 26 suspected victims, including 15 naked men believed to be Ethiopian nationals.

The joint operation, conducted by the Sandringham police, Gauteng Hawks, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), and a private security company, followed a tip-off from neighbours about suspicious activities at a residence on Luster Road.

Escape and Rescue

Hawks spokesperson Colonel Philani Nkwalase confirmed that officers arrived to find 15 men held captive, naked and in dire conditions. Eleven other victims were transported to a hospital for medical attention.

Preliminary investigations revealed the captives had broken a window and burglar bars in an attempt to escape. Some victims were rounded up near the crime scene, while others fled the area.

Three suspects, allegedly involved in the trafficking operation, were arrested at the scene. Authorities confiscated a pistol and a loaded magazine during the raid.

The case has been handed over to the Gauteng Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit for further inquiries. The 26 undocumented individuals are being processed to establish their legal status and confirm their identities as trafficking victims.

Authorities have urged the public to report any sightings of individuals without clothes in the area, as they may still be linked to the incident.

The police and the Hawks have pledged to intensify their efforts in dismantling such operations and ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals.
