The alleged scam? People were promised assistance in relocating to the US, with the Viljoens positioned as a supposed “gateway to America.”

“Many people have contacted us saying they lost money believing the Viljoens could help them get to the US,” Bolhuis revealed.

He didn’t stop there — alleging that the couple’s time in America has been surrounded by multiple questionable activities, calling it “unbelievable.”

The situation escalates further with claims that the documents used by the Viljoens to enter the US were allegedly manipulated or falsified — raising serious immigration concerns.

Reports suggest the couple is currently behind bars in Palm Beach County after being arrested for allegedly shoplifting groceries worth around R88,000 from Publix.

Despite the mounting allegations, their lawyer, Ryan Berger, has indicated that the couple intends to plead not guilty, with their next court appearance scheduled for 7 May 2026.

Meanwhile, Bolhuis has issued a strong warning to the public — urging South Africans NOT to financially support the pair under any circumstances. “Do not give them any money or assistance whatsoever,” he cautioned.
