Mbalula Says ANC Open To Welcoming Political Maverick Mbuyiseni Ndlozi

ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has lauded former EFF MP Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi as a “political masterpiece,” sparking speculation about Ndlozi’s potential entry into the ANC.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Mbalula expressed that he would not be surprised if the ruling party approached Ndlozi to join its ranks.

“It’s possible… I will not be shocked that the ANC can talk to him because he is a good member of society and in politics, he is a good politician,” Mbalula said.

Speculations Surrounding Ndlozi’s Next Move

Ndlozi, who recently resigned as an EFF MP, has faced significant internal challenges within the EFF. His departure from Parliament and exclusion from the party’s December elective conference have fuelled rumours of discord between him and EFF leader Julius Malema.

Malema had previously criticised Ndlozi for failing to communicate about former EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu’s defection to the MK Party. These tensions, coupled with Ndlozi’s perceived isolation, have raised questions about his political future.

Internal Dynamics in the EFF Questioned

Mbalula offered a critical assessment of Malema’s leadership style, suggesting that Malema’s “strong control” within the EFF may have contributed to Ndlozi’s ousting.

“When his party ejects someone like him, it means Julius is powerful. He’s overconfident of himself,” Mbalula remarked.

In contrast, Mbalula noted that the ANC’s approach to internal dissent is more inclusive, emphasising the value of retaining prominent figures.

“If someone like Mbuyiseni wanted to leave, I would try to convince them to stay. He’s not just a small player in politics,” Mbalula added.

ANC Signals Openness to Transformative Leadership

The ANC appears open to welcoming figures like Ndlozi, who Mbalula described as committed to transformation and the liberation of South Africans.

“At the end of the day, if you decide to pursue the agenda of transformation, we in the ANC are open to that,” he affirmed.

Ndlozi, known for his advocacy for economic justice and social change, has been a significant figure within the EFF since its inception in 2013. His departure from Parliament marks a turning point in his political career, with the potential for new alliances and opportunities.
