Mashatile Calls For Calm As Probe Into Nathi Mthethwa’s Death Unfolds

Deputy President Paul Mashatile has called on South Africans to wait for official findings regarding the death of South African Ambassador to France Nathi Mthethwa.

The late diplomat passed away in France last Monday, with early reports suggesting suicide. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances, and the official cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

Mthethwa is being honoured with a Special Official Funeral, Category 2, in KwaMbonambi, KwaZulu-Natal, where family, friends, and dignitaries have gathered to pay their respects.

Mashatile Denounces Speculation Around Mthethwa’s Death

Amid widespread speculation, Deputy President Mashatile emphasised the need for a thorough and transparent investigation.

“I think it is important that we await those investigations to be done, and we urge the authorities to do a thorough investigation, a proper investigation so that the family can have closure,” Mashatile said.

“We want Sis Phili to understand what really happened because, as far as we are concerned, Nyambose was not a comrade who was depressed.”

As the official funeral service continues, many mourners are gathering to celebrate Mthethwa’s life and legacy.
