Mary Phadi Dismissed From Umkhonto Wesizwe Amid Serious Allegations

Mary Phadi, a prominent leader of Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK Party) in Mpumalanga, has been dismissed from the organisation following serious allegations against her.

The party confirmed that Phadi was asked to voluntarily resign within three days, a request she did not comply with. Phadi faces accusations of hiring hitmen to eliminate a rival member within the MK Party. Reports indicate that she allegedly hired individuals to murder General Tough Mdluli.

Legal Actions Against Mary Phadi

General Mdluli has reportedly opened a case against Phadi after receiving death threats and voice recordings that purportedly discuss plans to kill him. He also accused Phadi of manipulating the MK Party’s provincial list to place her name in the top position.

In an official statement, the MK Party announced that due to Phadi’s non-compliance, the President of the MK Party decided to revoke her membership with immediate effect.

Consequently, her affiliation with the MK Party has been terminated. Phadi, who is also the president of the Truckers Association of South Africa, faces additional accusations of misappropriating funds, bringing the organisation into disrepute, and failing to comply with leadership’s directives.

Leadership’s Decision

The party emphasised that the severity of the allegations, combined with Phadi’s inadequate responses, led to the irrevocable decision to terminate her membership. The Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature has been informed, and all necessary documentation has been sent to the legislature.
