Man’s Body Found In Wheelie Bin Outside Cape Town School

Residents of Lotus River, Cape Town, woke to a chilling discovery on Wednesday morning when the body of an adult man was found dumped inside a wheelie bin outside Stephen Road Primary School.
The gruesome find was made at around 7.30am in Stephen Road. It is believed the victim was a local resident, although his identity has not yet been confirmed.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said a murder case had been opened.

Twigg stated: “Grassy Park police registered a murder case for investigation after the body of an unknown adult male was found in a wheelie bin on Thursday morning, 20 November 2025, at about 7.30am in Stephan Road, Lotus River.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have been made.”
CPF: ‘Community Is Up in Arms After Body Found in Bin’
Public relations officer for the Lotus River Community Police Forum (CPF), Howard Downes, described the killing as “horrendous”.
“As a CPF, we do not know the circumstances surrounding this incident. No arrests have been made yet. The community is up in arms because this is a horrendous crime that has happened in the community once again.”
Downes urged anyone with information to contact 10111 or Grassy Park SAPS.
Second Cape Town Grim Discovery
Meanwhile, police are also investigating the discovery of skeletal remains in a shallow grave along Baden Powell Drive, in Enkanini, Khayelitsha.
Twigg confirmed that Harare police had registered an inquest.
He said: “Harare police registered an inquest for investigation following the discovery of skeleton remains in a shallow grave in Baden Powell Drive, Enkanini, Khayelitsha, on Wednesday morning, 19 November 2025.
“DNA testing will be conducted to determine the identity of the remains.”
This comes just a week after a woman’s body was also found along Baden Powell Drive in Macassar. Pictures of her partially buried body circulated widely on social media after a passer-by discovered her on 7 November 2025.
Cape Town police are now probing whether the cases may be linked.
