Mandla Mandela Vows To Continue Palestinian Support After UK Decline Visa

Mandla Mandela, the sitting chief of the Mveso traditional council and grandson of the late Nelson Mandela, has vowed to extend his support for the Palestinian cause despite experiencing a setback with his recent visa application to the United Kingdom.

This decision comes after the UK government denied him entry, citing his ties to Hamas amid the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Visa Denial and Its Implications

The refusal of a visa has significant implications for Mandela’s ability to participate in pro-Palestinian rallies scheduled in major cities, including Manchester, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.

Despite holding a South African government passport, which generally permits visa-free travel, Mandela faced obstacles.

Continuing the Fight for Justice

In the wake of this visa decline, Mandela reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for the Palestinian people. During a recent statement, he noted, “It comes as no surprise to us that these are the same agents that supported the apartheid regime in South Africa.

“Because the [former UK Prime Minister] Margaret Thatcher administration, as well as the [former US President] Ronald Reagan administration, supported the apartheid regime in South Africa.

“And they have continued throughout history, being on the wrong side of history. And therefore, for us, having come out of 350 years of colonialism, as well as a brutal apartheid regime.

“They know very well that we will continue to be the voice of the voiceless and will continue to speak for the most oppressed and most vulnerable around the globe,” he said.
