In a deeply emotional moment that had Mzansi wiping tears, Generations: The Legacy actress Manaka Ranaka honoured the memory of her late daughter, Katlego Ranaka, with a beautiful tombstone unveiling on what would have been her 25th birthday.
The actress, known for her bold personality and infectious laugh, showed a different side of herself — one filled with grace, strength, and quiet grief — as she marked nearly a year since Katlego’s passing in January 2025.
A Promise Fulfilled In Stone
The breathtaking tombstone, designed and built by Nkomati Tombstones in Limpopo, immediately captured Mzansi’s attention after a video of the unveiling went viral on TikTok. The company’s founder, known online as @Ma_sambo, revealed that crafting Manaka’s vision wasn’t easy — but it was worth every moment.
“On the 31st of August 2025, I made a promise to sis Manaka Ranaka to make a tombstone of any design she wished,” the businesswoman wrote in her caption. “She trusted my word, and we delivered. It was challenging, but we came out strong.”
Fans flooded the comments with praise for the artistry and the emotional weight of the tribute.
Motheo wrote: “I have never seen anything like this before.”

Kgomotso_Kaygee added: “May God bless you.”
It’s not every day that a celebrity moment brings such collective tenderness — but this one did.
A Mother’s Grief That Still Cuts Deep
In a recent interview with David Mashabela on Downtown with Mashabela, Manaka opened up about the heartbreaking day her daughter passed away.
“When her day arrived, I was at work,” she recalled softly. “There was a new character who would be working closely with me, and just before that scene, I got a call from the hospital to say we needed to come.”
Trying to hold it together on set, she described the pain of pretending to be okay when her world was crumbling.

After rushing to the hospital, she phoned her mother for an update — only to hear the words no parent ever wants to hear.
“She looks so peaceful,” Manaka whispered, holding back tears as she remembered her final goodbye.
The Ranaka family later confirmed Katlego’s cause of death as natural causes, closing the door on months of painful speculation.
