Man Trampled By Rhino At KwaZulu-Natal Game Reserve

A KwaZulu-Natal man sustained severe injuries after being trampled by a rhino at a game reserve near Pietermaritzburg on Monday. Emergency responders described his condition as critical and provided advanced life support at the scene.

Stabilisation After Rhino Attack

Roland Robertson, Midlands Emergency Services spokesperson, reported that their crew arrived to find the man in a critical condition with serious injuries. Immediate advanced life support measures were implemented, including the use of specialised rescue equipment to navigate the challenging environment.

Once stabilised, the patient was transferred to Netcare St Anne’s Hospital for further medical care. His current condition has not been disclosed.

Statement from Conservation Organisations

Rave Rhino, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to rhino conservation, declined to comment on the incident. Efforts to contact the game reserve for additional information were unsuccessful at the time of publication.

It remains unclear what led to the encounter. Authorities have yet to confirm whether an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway. Visitors to wildlife reserves are reminded to exercise caution and adhere to safety guidelines to minimise risks.
