Man Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Robbing And Killing His Mother

The Thabamoopo Regional Court in Limpopo has handed down a life sentence to 33-year-old Lefa Bruno Kekana for the brutal murder of his mother, Ramatsimela Angelina Kekana.
The 61-year-old mother was tragically killed at her residence in November 2020. In addition to the life sentence, the court also sentenced Lefa to 15 years imprisonment for robbery, with both sentences to run concurrently.
According to the Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the court heard that Lefa attacked his mother at their residence in Lebowakgomo Zone S on November 9, 2020. He demanded money to feed his drug habit, and when his mother refused, he stabbed her multiple times with a knife. Lefa also robbed her of an undisclosed amount of money.

The victim’s body was discovered by other relatives, who immediately called the police. Detective Sergeant Azwihangwisi Michael Magadani was assigned to the case and conducted a thorough investigation. As a result, Lefa Kekana was arrested and subsequently convicted and sentenced for the murder.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, commended Detective Sergeant Magadani for his diligent work and welcomed the hefty sentence imposed on the killer son. This case serves as a reminder that justice will be served for those who commit such heinous crimes.
