Man Arrested For Raping His Friend’s 9-Year-Old Disabled Daughter

A 39-year-old man, accused of raping a young disabled girl, is set to make his second appearance in the Rustenburg magistrate’s court this week.
The incident occurred in Phokeng, prompting swift action by community members and law enforcement.
According to police spokesperson Col Adéle Myburgh, the harrowing incident unfolded after the girl’s parents and their friend drove to Freedom Park for a meeting. Following the meeting, the parents left their vulnerable daughter in the car with the man while they went to a nearby shop to purchase food.
Upon their return, they were met with a distressing scene: their nine-year-old daughter lying on the back seat, allegedly being assaulted by their friend. The father intervened, removing the suspect from the child, while the mother screamed for help.
Community members acted swiftly, apprehending the suspect. However, he was rescued by the victim’s father, who handed him over to the Phokeng police. The authorities promptly arrested the man, and he made his initial court appearance last Thursday, facing a charge of rape.
The accused remains in custody, and his second court appearance is scheduled for Thursday. The case has drawn significant attention, highlighting the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals and seeking justice for victims of sexual assault.
