Man Linked To E-Hailing Driver Robberies Arrested In Soweto

A man suspected of being behind a string of robberies targeting e-hailing drivers has been arrested in Soweto on Sunday morning.

According to Gauteng traffic police, the suspect allegedly preyed on multiple Uber and Bolt drivers in Eldorado Park’s Extension Four. In one of the most recent incidents, a driver was ambushed and had his vehicle stolen.

Robber Arrested

Provincial traffic police spokesperson Obed Sibasa confirmed that the suspect was traced to Joseph Fletch, where officers recovered the victim’s car key in his possession. The stolen vehicle was also found near the scene.

The arrest comes as safety concerns for e-hailing drivers continue to escalate. Just recently, an e-hailing driver was murdered outside Maponya Mall in Soweto, sparking renewed calls for stricter regulations and better protection for drivers.
