Man Arrested With Firearm Linked To Fatal Kraaifontein Gang Shooting
A man has been arrested after police recovered a firearm believed to have been used in a deadly gang-related shooting in Kraaifontein.
The violent attack, which took place in Wallacedene on Tuesday, left an 11-year-old girl dead, while an eight-year-old girl and a man were wounded.
Firearm Seized During Police Operation
Police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk confirmed that officers acted swiftly on a tip-off.
“On Wednesday morning, the members received information about the firearm used in this incident was stored on premises in Mapongwana Street in Wallacedene.
“The members searched the identified premises, where they confiscated a 9mm pistol with the serial number removed and eleven rounds of ammunition. A 26-year-old man was arrested,” Van Wyk said.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to appear in the Bluedowns Magistrate’s Court once he has been formally charged. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the shooting as the community reels from the tragedy.
