Wakkerstroom Man, 64, Arrested After Allegedly Strangling 18-Year-Old Female Friend To Death

A 64-year-old man is expected to appear in the Wakkerstroom Periodical Court after allegedly strangling an 18-year-old woman to death before reporting the incident to police.
The suspect was arrested on Monday after allegedly walking into the Community Service Centre (CSC) and informing officers that he had killed the young woman. Police have since opened a murder investigation.
The incident allegedly took place at the suspect’s home in Hlobisa Section, Esizameleni, Wakkerstroom.
Wakkerstroom Murder Suspect Allegedly Confessed To Police
According to police, the suspect arrived at the Community Service Centre at about 5pm on Monday, 20 July 2026. He allegedly told officers that he had strangled his 18-year-old female friend to death at his residence.
Police accompanied the man to the property, where he allegedly pointed out the room where the victim’s body was found.

The deceased was discovered lying naked beneath bedding. Police said her clothes had been placed over her body, covering her face and private parts.
Emergency Medical Services and other role players were called to the scene. Paramedics declared the woman dead at the scene.
Protection Order Obtained Before Alleged Wakkerstroom Murder
Preliminary police investigations revealed that the deceased had obtained a protection order against the suspect earlier this month.
Investigators are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police have not yet disclosed the circumstances leading up to the woman’s death.
The 64-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene after leading police to the victim’s body.
He is expected to appear in the Wakkerstroom Periodical Court on Tuesday, 22 July 2026, on a charge of murder.
Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
