Man, 60, Shot Dead During Alleged Hijacking In Moletjie Outside Polokwane

A 60-year-old man has been killed during an alleged hijacking in Ga-Matlou Village, Moletjie, outside Polokwane, with Limpopo police launching a murder investigation.

The victim was travelling in a Hyundai H1 with his son on Saturday evening when they stopped to offer assistance to a couple who were hitchhiking. Moments later, an armed man allegedly confronted them and the situation turned deadly.

The suspect is alleged to have opened the driver's door before firing several shots at the victim. While the man's son managed to escape without injury, the attacker allegedly drove off in the vehicle.

Moletjie Hijacking Turns Fatal After Driver Is Shot

The alleged hijacking in Moletjie ended in tragedy after the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders declared the 60-year-old dead at the scene.

Police said the stolen Hyundai H1 was later found in a nearby village after it had allegedly been involved in a crash. The suspect reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled the area on foot.
