MaMkhize’s Lamborghini And Designer Handbags Auction Hits R4.4 Million – Hours Left!

Glamour, desire, and audacity are on full display as Durban businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize, affectionately known as MaMkhize, watches her luxury Lamborghini and designer handbags fly off the auction block.

The high-stakes online auction at Bapsfontein Yard is entering its final hours, and bids have already surged to R4.4 million.

“Bidding opened and was immediate. In many auctions, activity peaks at the end, but on these lots, the bids flew in,” says Pieter Geldenhuys, managing director of auction house Bidders Choice.

From Lamborghini to Louis Vuitton: Auction Highlights

The auction features authenticated high-end handbags and a roaring 2021 Lamborghini Urus. Here are some of the standout lots:

Lamborghini Urus 2021: Currently at R4.3 million (potentially reaching R8 million), with commission, the winning bid could total R4.7 million.

Louis Vuitton monogram canvas case: R20,500 and climbing.

Two Louis Vuitton Zephyr suitcases: Heading toward R46,000 combined.

Gucci Floral Ophidia handbag: R11,000, retail around R19,000.

Saint Laurent Care Maxi Shopping Handbag: Reaching R29,000.

Goyard Red Villette French Bulldog tote: Sits at R14,000, a discreet yet instantly recognizable piece.

Other designer names include Gucci, YSL, and Balenciaga, offering bidders a chance to own not just luxury but a slice of MaMkhize’s storied life.

The auction follows a legal showdown with the SA Revenue Service, which seized luxury items due to unpaid taxes. MaMkhize’s Royal AM soccer team was also placed under curatorship for R40 million in unpaid taxes, ultimately resulting in the team being expelled from the PSL.

Geldenhuys notes that interest has been unprecedented. “Some bidders were sent by their bosses—meaning their wives—who knew exactly which items to target. We had to train our team to authenticate every handbag and suitcase before sending them to an independent company in Sandton.”

Bidders are coming from all over South Africa, including Rustenburg and Bloemfontein, all vying for a piece of MaMkhize’s luxury legacy. The auction is expected to raise between R4.5 and R5 million, helping to cover outstanding debts.
