Mamelodi Cousins Killed To Be Laid To Rest In Limpopo As Family Struggles To Cope With Loss

Family, friends, and members of the Mamelodi community gathered for the funeral of two young cousins whose lives were brutally cut short by a brutal killer.

Tshiamo Moramaga, 22, and his cousin, 21-year-old Baleseng Moramaga, were found dead on Sunday morning following a shooting incident in Mamelodi, east of Pretoria. The tragedy has left their loved ones reeling in grief.

The pair will be laid to rest at their home village of Luckau, outside Groblersdal in Limpopo, where mourners have come together to bid them a final farewell.

The accused, 38-year-old Tebogo Mnisi, appeared before the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court, where he was remanded in custody after he abandoned bail. The community has expressed shock and outrage over the senseless killings that claimed the lives of the two young men.

Family Grieves as Questions Remain

Family spokesperson Edward Moramaga said the loss has left the entire family shattered and struggling to come to terms with what happened.

“When we heard about this incident, it evoked strong emotions. We’re having trouble sleeping at night, and our emotions are running high.

“It’s painful, and it’s even more painful because we’re told it was done by one person. We’re asking ourselves how he could take their lives,” he said.

Another 27-year-old man who is believed to be the cousin of the slain women said it was only God that saved his life after he survived gunshots to his private part by the same shooter who killed his sisters.

SurgeZirc SA previously reported that Desmond Senong told reporters that he believes only divine intervention saved him in the early hours of Sunday morning when Mnisi allegedly opened fire.

Senong explained that he had met his cousins at Small Konka Shisanyama in Mamelodi East on Saturday night, where they spent the evening dancing and socialising. He shared videos with EWN showing them enjoying themselves just hours before tragedy struck.

The shooting reportedly stemmed from an argument with Mnisi, believed to be the boyfriend of one of the women at the venue. While walking home at around 2:30am, Mnisi allegedly drove up and opened fire, fatally wounding the cousins and hitting Senong in his private parts.

Neighbours rushed the wounded Senong to hospital, where doctors revealed that the bullet had destroyed one of his testicles.

“The doctor told me I’ve lost one testicle, so I may not be able to have more children or I may struggle,” Senong told newsmen. Despite the pain, he managed to flee the scene, jumping over walls and through yards until he reached help.

The family has called for justice as investigations continue into the shocking incident that has shaken both Mamelodi and the Limpopo community.
