Malema Eyes Farming As EFF Leadership Uncertainty Looms

Malema Eyes Farming As EFF Leadership Uncertainty Looms

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has dismissed accusations of being a “dictator,” asserting that he is the outgoing president of the party.

With the EFF’s elective conference scheduled for December, Malema’s future as president is up in the air. Should he not be re-elected, he plans to return to farming.

Commitment to Democracy

Having led the EFF since its formation in 2013, he emphasized the party’s democratic values. “A dictator would avoid a conference to maintain control. We don’t do that because we are not dictators. We are a democratic organization, but we are also decisive and do not tolerate ill-discipline,” he stated.

He highlighted that the EFF, similar to the ANC, conducts elective conferences where the president’s term can end, allowing new leadership to emerge. He contrasted this with leaders like Herman Mashaba (ActionSA), Gayton McKenzie (PA), and Jacob Zuma (MK Party), who do not hold such conferences but are not labelled as dictators.

Malema’s Commitment EFF And Plans

Malema expressed his willingness to accept any position for which EFF members nominate him. If not elected, he intends to focus on farming, a passion he has pursued in his spare time.

“Many politicians stay in office until they are very old because they don’t know what to do after politics. I don’t want to face that problem,” he explained.

While Malema’s commitment to the EFF remains steadfast, he is prepared to step back and dedicate himself to farming if necessary.
