48-Year-Old Male Nurse Arrested For Allegedly Raping Schoolboys In Springs

A 48-year-old male nurse from a private hospital in Springs, Ekurhuleni, has been arrested after being found in his car with a schoolboy in uniform during school hours.

The shocking discovery was made by a group of runners who stumbled upon the suspect and the boy deep in the bushes.

This incident has sparked allegations of sexual assault against two teenagers from Duduza, with residents claiming the suspect’s car had been spotted in the area multiple times, always with different children in school uniforms.

Suspect Arrested After Confrontation

Thembi Mashego, a local resident, revealed that community members had grown suspicious of the suspect’s frequent presence in the area.

“We approached the driver but were not satisfied with his explanations. We decided to call the police, and he was arrested on the spot,” she said.

The two victims, who are friends, later told police they had been raped and sexually abused by the suspect. When questioned by community members, the suspect claimed he knew one of the boys from treating him at the hospital and insisted he was a traditional healer who only prayed and counselled learners.

Suspect Faces Court Amidst Public Backlash

Community activist Nomthandaza Ngwenya has demanded that the suspect remain in jail and lose his nursing license. “It is clear he is targeting young boys admitted to the hospital. We will not stand by and allow another child to be violated,” she said.

Warrant Officer Majang Skalkie of the Ekurhuleni SAPS confirmed that two cases of rape and sexual assault are under investigation. The suspect is set to appear in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court on Friday, as the community rallies for justice and stricter measures to protect vulnerable children.
