Makhaza Hijacking Team Apprehends 4 Suspects And Recovers Stolen Vehicle

On February 6, 2025, the vigilance of the Makhaza Hijacking Team led to the successful recovery of a hijacked vehicle and the arrest of four suspects. The suspects, aged between 19 and 23, face charges of hijacking and possession of stolen property.

Details of the Arrest

Around 14:00, Makhaza Hijacking Team members followed up on information about a carjacking case reported at the Makhaza police station. The team, accompanied by the complainant, who was tracking his stolen cell phone throughout the hijacking.

The team located a suspicious Toyota Corolla with four occupants at the intersection of Dibana Road and Ncedo Street. The complainant recognised two of them as suspects who were involved in the initial hijacking.

A search of the vehicle revealed power tools in the boot, identified by the complainant as his property from the hijacked vehicle. Additionally, the complainant’s cell phone was found in the possession of one of the suspects.

Further investigation led the team to a premises on Ntlanzi Street in Kuyasa, where they recovered the hijacked vehicle. The suspects were arrested and detained at Harare SAPS. They are scheduled to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court on February 10, 2025.

• Be cautious of unknown pedestrians near your home.
• When stopping behind another vehicle, leave enough space to escape if necessary.
