Major Drug Bust In Limpopo, Suspect Arrested With Drugs Worth R5 Million

On Wednesday, a 45-year-old suspect was apprehended following a significant drug bust in Limpopo. Acting on a tip-off, police managed to corner the suspect near a fast-food outlet at the Lebowakgomo Shopping Centre, located outside Polokwane. The arrest marked a crucial step in combating drug trafficking in the region.

Upon arrest, the suspect was allegedly found in possession of three sachets of crystal meth, 300 sachets of heroin (commonly known as nyaope), and 80 sachets of cocaine. The total street value of the seized drugs is estimated at R5 million.

Subsequently, police conducted a raid at the suspect’s property in Maralaneng Village, uncovering a substantial quantity of similar drugs and over R30,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Limpopo Police Spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba revealed disturbing details during a press briefing. “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was selling drugs to even school children across various schools,” said Ledwaba.

This revelation underscores the grave impact of drug trafficking on the youth and the community at large. Additionally, it was disclosed that the suspect has a similar pending case before the Mankweng Regional Court.

In addition to the drugs and cash, police recovered an illegal firearm with three rounds of live ammunition from the suspect. The suspect’s vehicle was also confiscated as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are committed to ensuring that the individual faces the full extent of the law, thereby sending a strong message against drug trafficking.
