Madlanga Commission: Secret Witness Reveals WhatsApp Messages Linking Vusi “Cat” Matlala To KZN Hawks Boss

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has resumed with a new witness, identified only as Witness X, giving testimony remotely under strict anonymity to protect their safety.

The witness continues where Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo left off, revealing details from WhatsApp conversations involving businessman and attempted murder accused, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, and several high-ranking officials.

WhatsApp Messages Between Matlala and KZN Hawks Boss Exposed

According to Witness X, the WhatsApp messages under scrutiny include exchanges between Matlala and KwaZulu-Natal Hawks boss, Major General Lesetja Senona.

It is alleged that Major General Senona may have had a personal interest in protecting Matlala due to business dealings between Matlala and Senona’s son, Thatho Senona.

The witness is responding to questions through evidence leader Advocate Thabang Pooe, who repeats the answers aloud for the record.

During the testimony, a key statement was highlighted: “Major General Senona has a close and beneficial relationship with an alleged criminal, and you will also see the close relationship that Mr Matlala has with the general’s son.”

The Commission is expected to continue hearing further evidence linking senior police officials to Matlala’s alleged criminal network.
